SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) today announced that he has donated his congressional salary for the 43 days that the government was shut down to America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.

This donation comes after Rep. Carter sent a letter requesting that his pay be withheld during the duration of the shutdown, a time when Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia stepped up to assist Georgia families on SNAP, WIC, and other government services that lapsed in funding, including those service members and federal employees who missed paychecks or had them threatened.
