An automotive supplier in Romulus is expected to lay off nearly 200 employees early in 2026, the company said in a required notice.
Yanfeng , a maker of interior components for automakers such as Toyota and Hyundai, that received "supplier excellence" awards from Ford in recent years, said it would lay off about 192 workers on about Jan. 5, 2026, according to a WARN notice to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity .
Yanfeng , in the letter, said the layoffs are necessary due to work being moved from the Romulus site to other Yanfeng facilities.
"If any opportunity to relocate employees presents itself, we will extend such offers at the time they become available," Romulus plant human resources manager, Mary Feltner said in the letter.
