Tornado warnings were issued Monday afternoon for parts of the Houston area as a line of thunderstorms makes its way through the region.
Houston and much of Southeast Texas are under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service . Tornado warnings for areas in northwestern Harris County and southwestern Montgomery County were in effect Monday afternoon.
The tornado watch, which means conditions are favorable for the formation of tornadoes, applies to Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties, along with 32 other counties in the region. Areas north of Interstate 10 are at the greatest risk for severe weather, according to Cameron Self, a meteorologist with the weather service office for the Houston and Galveston area.
