Purdue basketball retained the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll in the new rankings released Monday. The Boilermakers occupied the top spot for the second week in a row and third time in four weeks this season.

Coach Matt Painter's team received 46 of a possible 61 No. 1 votes, with Arizona jumping up two spots to No. 2 and receiving 11 votes for the top slot. No. 3 Houston received the other five votes for No. 1.

Purdue (6-0) is coming off winning the title at the Baha Mar Championship, where it topped Memphis 80-71 in the semifinals and blitzed then-No. 15 Texas Tech in the final 86-56. It was the largest margin of victory for a Big Ten team against an opponent ranked in the top 15 since Michigan State beat Penn 101-67 in the 1979 Final Four.
