Daniel Patrick Moynihan famously said, “everyone is entitled to their own opinions but not their own facts.” There seems to be widespread opinion that since Republicans are the party of big business, they must be better at managing the economy. The facts prove otherwise.

Since the end of World War II our nation’s gross national product has risen on average 4.3% per year under Democratic presidents and only 2.5% per year under Republican presidents. The difference is even bigger when it comes to job creation. Since 1945, 72% of all newly created jobs came under Democratic leadership and 28% under Republicans. Since 1989, 51 million jobs were created in America, 49 million of those under Democratic presidents and 2 million under Republicans.
