NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Bayou Classic rivalry is heading into a new arena this year.
Southern University and Grambling State will meet in a first-of-its-kind esports showdown Friday (Nov. 29) morning at Champions Square, the newest addition to the weekend’s long-running HBCU traditions.
Southern’s Coby Robinson will face Grambling State’s Robert Stripling in the Rally Cry Championship Tour’s Bayou Classic Featured Matchup. The event begins at 9 a.m. and is free to the public.
Christopher Turner, director of Southern University’s EDGE Digital Gaming Ecosystem, said the matchup represents a major moment for the program.
