LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Dogs and cats at the Lenoir County SPCA received an early Thanksgiving treat Monday as volunteers served a special holiday feast to more than 100 animals awaiting adoption.
The annual celebration has been a tradition at the shelter for almost 20 years, bringing holiday spirit to the facility’s furry residents.
“It’s to give them a little something extra for the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays,” said David Wiggins, shelter manager.
Monday morning, volunteers formed an assembly line to prepare the feast. Dogs received chicken, green beans, rice, and sweet potatoes wrapped in tortillas, while cats enjoyed tuna. Even the kittens had their own special portions.
