The mum of a 12-year-old schoolgirl who died weeks after being sectioned in a specialist children's mental health facility burst into tears today as an inquest heard new evidence.

Mia Lucas, from Arnold in Nottinghamshire, tragically took her own life at the Becton Centre for Children and Young People in Sheffield in January last year. The schoolgirl was found unresponsive and pronounced dead the following day, just weeks after she was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

A pathologist told an inquest today that Mia was suffering from a potentially treatable physical brain disorder.
