The province has selected an undeveloped greenspace at the University of Alberta’s South Campus as the site for a new stand-alone Stollery Children’s Hospital.
At a news conference Monday morning, the province announced it will be located on campus at the northeast corner of 122 Street and 51 Avenue.
Alberta’s minister of infrastructure, Martin Long, said this site was picked because of its ample space and potential for expansion, as well as its proximity to the University of Alberta’s North Campus.
Long also highlighted that the site is currently undeveloped green space, which he said will enable the facility to be built quicker because they don’t have to demolish or relocate existing buildings.
