VIENNA, Ill. (KFVS) - Students at Vienna High School are getting hands-on training in first aid--all thanks to a donation from a local healthcare organization.
Sophomore Dawson Haynes and his Vienna High School classmates are learning how to use new kits to “stop the bleed.”
“I think it’s important for the school to have them. They can really save a life,” Haynes said.
Southern Illinois Healthcare donated 85 Stop the Bleed kits after Vienna High School’s resource officer, David Stewart, identified the need.
“I thought this was a huge thing we were overlooking. So, I reached out to SIH and asked about some kits. Fortunately, it was perfect timing. He had just received a grant and had kits available,” Stewart said.
