MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up for the return of “Operation Jingle Bells,” an annual effort to enhance security in shopping areas for the holidays.

The five-week-long operation will begin Friday, November 28, and conclude on Sunday, December 28.

During this period, a high concentration of local law enforcement officers will station themselves in high-traffic shopping areas in both incorporated and unincorporated parts of the county.

Local agencies will focus on patrolling parking lots, keeping in close contact with store employees, and increasing traffic enforcement.

These efforts are aimed at deterring car break-ins, shoplifting, and maintaining a safer traffic flow for shoppers.
