LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) has withdrawn a proposal to change start times for next school year.
The proposal would have moved start times and dismissal times up 20 minutes earlier for the 2026-2027 school year.
Superintendent Brian Yearwood said he reached the decision to pause and withdraw the proposal, "after careful review and continued conversations with families, staff, and community stakeholders."
"While the intent was to strengthen student learning conditions and improve operational efficiency, it is clear that more analysis and deeper engagement are necessary before moving forward," Yearwood said in a statement on Monday.
