DEL MAR — The ever-improving forecast calls for diminishing chances of rain next weekend, setting the stage for a strong grand finale to Del Mar’s 12th fall meeting.
There will be seven stakes races over the final three days. Six of those will be graded stakes, while six will also be part of the annual Turf Festival.
The festival starts Friday with the $200,000 Grade II Hollywood Turf Cup. There will be three stakes races on Saturday, capped by the $300,000 Grade I Hollywood Derby. And there will be three more stakes races on Sunday, capped by the $300,000 Grade 1 Matriarch.
The weekend will feature the two Grade 1s, the Grade II Hollywood Turf Cup and Saturday’s Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap and three Grade IIIs.
