URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - More solar power is coming to Urbana.
The Urbana City Council gave the final approval to Total Energies for phase two.
The project will expand the solar farm on North Smith Road at a now-closed city landfill.
Phase two is expected to produce 4.3 million watts of power.
Ameren customers who sign up to get their power from the solar farm are expected to save on their monthly bills.
The solar project will also be used to power the Urbana Free Library.
