SALT LAKE CITY — A small airplane caught fire Monday afternoon at the Provo Airport , prompting officials to shut down the airport for safety reasons.
Janna-Lee Holland with the Provo Police Department said a non-commercial plane was coming into land while reportedly on fire .
The report of the plane on fire came in just before 3:30 p.m. By 4:08 p.m., the fire had been extinguished by fire personnel stationed at the airport.
The small airplane that was scheduled to fly to California returned to the Provo Airport less than 10 minutes after taking off. (Provo Police Department)
Holland reported there were some injuries among the four plane occupants, but no fatalities. All of them exited the plane. One individual was transported to Utah Valley Hospital by medics.
