Bulldozers have moved in to tear down three long-standing buildings in Bishop Auckland.

North Bondgate is closed this week while the Queens Head, Postchaise and Monaco pubs are torn down.

The buildings are being removed to make way for a new 60-bed hotel set to create 95 jobs. The site is expected to be flattened by Christmas.

Pictures taken on Monday (November 24) showed demolition experts using machinery to tear down the buildings.

North Bondgate will be closed around the clock all week, although demolition work will only take place between 8am and 6pm.
