A row over a drone survey for the Norwich to Tilbury line has triggered campaigners to say they feel "spied on" and fear an environmental "slaughter".

Drone surveys began for the 114-mile Norwich to Tilbury line on 17 November, to help improve National Grid's understanding of the landscape and environmental conditions.

Senior project surveyor James Magson says using this technology will "reduce the need for teams to walk the entire route on foot, which helps to minimise disruption for local communities, landowners and the environment."

Meanwhile, Stirling X, the company carrying out the work, also insisted that the footage will only be "directly relevant to the route and surrounding landscape" and will not be taken directly above residential properties or include identifiable individual
