Andrew Albicy is set to retire from the national team of France after the upcoming FIBA window.
The French Federation of Basketball officially confirmed his decision on Tuesday.
“I would have liked to play in EuroBasket last summer. It would have been a great way to end my career,” noted the 35-year-old point guard of Dreamland Gran Canaria at the club level.
“I could see younger players in my position rising in importance, which is normal. I am part of the older generation that’s now retired. It made sense to follow the same path,” added Albicy.
The list of Les Bleus’ achievements features two Olympic silver medals, one FIBA World Cup bronze medal, and two EuroBasket silver medals, over 108 caps. Previously, at the junior level, he captured gold as the Most Valuable Player of the U2
