Graham Linehan has been found guilty of damaging the phone of a trans activist but cleared of harassing her on social media.
The Father Ted co-creator, who posts vehemently anti-trans messages, was fined £500 ($655) and ordered to pay costs of £650 and a statutory surcharge of £200, according to BBC News.
The court was told that Linehan “deliberately whacked” Sophia Brooks’ phone out of her hand outside a conference last year.
While BBC News reported that the court also heard Linehan had “relentlessly” posted abusive comments about Brooks on social media, the judge said these posts did not constitute harassment.
Linehan had denied both charges.
