Scrapping the two-child benefit cap would be “madness”, the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) has been warned. Ahead of the Labour Party Autumn Budget, the boss of AO has issued a warning.

The boss spoke out after a tax raid on businesses hit the firm by £4million. John Roberts, founder and chief executive of electricals retailer, has branded reported plans to scrap the two‑child benefit cap as “madness”.

Roberts said Labour must “man up” and make “some difficult decisions” in Wednesday’s Budget, warning ministers “demonise” business as a cash cow for welfare. He said the cabinet “couldn’t run a bath let alone a business.”
