Much of northeastern Ontario is under winter storm warnings that call for heavy snowfall and poor visibility. But at the Quebec border, the warnings transform into special weather statements heralding 15-25 cm of snow midweek.

The special weather statements stretch across the province to the New Brunswick border, yet remain far north of Montreal.

It sweeps so far north that the city is expected to see a few showers instead on Tuesday, with a high of 6 C. That turns to rain overnight, with the temperature dipping to 3 C. Montreal isn’t expected to see more than a few flurries till the back half of the weekend.
