UK weather maps are forecasted to turn into shades of purple over the next couple of weeks as a string of powerful Atlantic systems sweeps across the country. This will deliver bursts of wintry weather and reports of snow as far south as parts of Wales and around Blackpool. The dramatic colouring on high-resolution model charts highlights the intensity of the incoming precipitation, with colder air intermittently undercutting the frontal systems and producing sudden switches from rain to sleet and snow.

According to weather maps by WXCharts , the first significant spell is expected on November 30, when a band of heavy precipitation will push in from the West. Much of Scotland will be cold enough for snow on higher ground, with the most intense areas shown in purple on forecast maps.
