DALLAS — If you've lived in Texas for any considerable amount of time -- or, maybe, if you just got here last week -- then this list won't surprise you.

But we can sympathize with each other's pain, so here goes: The Texas A&M Transportation Institute has released its annual list of the most congested roadways in the Lone Star State. This is no half-baked survey -- in fact, the A&M group has a 21-page report here explaining how they procure and analyze road congestion data in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation. The study looks at everything from travel speed, free-flow travel speed, the number of vehicles and trucks on the road and how much time each person in a vehicle is delayed by congestion. The study also adjusts data for day of the week.
