Another stretch of the Clement Avenue extension is finally on the horizon, 18 years after the first stub was opened to traffic.
Kelowna city council this week reviewed plans for the $210 million, two-kilometre-long project to connect Clement between its current dead-end point of Spall Road to Highway 33.
The new road will cut through part of what is now part of the city-owned cemetery, and it will include what will likely be the biggest roundabout between Calgary and Vancouver, council heard. The popular Rail Trail hiking and biking path that already runs through the area will be unaffected by the new road link, though some residents believe its appeal will be diminished.
