GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Hambden Township firefighter who was severely injured when his Montville Township home exploded on Friday, Nov. 21 remains hospitalized in the ICU in serious condition and is scheduled for his first surgery Tuesday.
“He can’t really talk, they’re assisting with his breathing with a breathing tube. It appears he can hear us; he can shake his head. Quite frankly, it’s sad,” said Hambden Township Fire Chief Scott Hildenbrand.
Captain Tim Tobin was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center with severe burns.
His daughter, Savannah, was also injured and taken by ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center. She is scheduled for surgery Wednesday.
