LABOUR’S plans to reform the asylum system will breach multiple laws, other UK Governments are reported to have warned the Home Office.

First, the Department for Education has privately told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood that her proposals to reform immigration are “in conflict” with child safety laws, according to reports in The Times .

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson’s department is reported to have specifically warned that the plans will breach the Children Act – which says public bodies’ decision must prioritise vulnerable children – and the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act – which obliges the Home Office to safeguard children' s welfare.
