WEST UNION, Iowa – A northeast Iowa man was arrested Monday night on child sex crimes.

The Mar-Mac Police Department says it took James Michael Eberhart Sr., 52 of McGregor, into custody around 10 pm. He was picked up on a Fayette County warrant for sexual exploitation of a minor, grooming, and dissemination of obscene material to a minor.

A member of law enforcement says they posed as a 14-year-old girl on Facebook and engaged in a conversation with Eberhart between November 12 and November 15. Court documents state Eberhart tried several times to coerce the supposed 14-year-old girl into sending him nude photos and sent a picture of himself exposing his genitals.

Eberhart was booked into the Fayette County Jail on $25,000 bond.
