Since kicking off with the debut of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Walt Disney Animation Studios has only put out a handful of sequels – the majority of them just in the past decade, in our increasingly franchise-obsessed era – but still, it’s striking how much Zootopia 2 stands out as far and away the best one to date. While the likes of Ralph Breaks the Internet, Frozen 2 and Moana 2 have struggled to recapture the core of what made audiences love about the original, Zootopia 2 shines, providing exactly what one hopes for from a satisfying sequel – more of what you love while also expanding upon the world and themes introduced in the first one. On top of that, it’s just a really entertaining and heartfelt movie.
