RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A man has been convicted of second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon after a shooting in northwest Reno.

Edgar Hernandez-Jacinto was also convicted of several drug charges. The Washoe County DA’s Office says he shot and killed LaMar Jarriet at a condo on Sharlands Avenue in April of 2023.

Just after midnight on April 5, officers with the Reno Police Department were called to the complex after a teen reported that his friend had been shot in the back.

Jacinto was identified as the suspect in the shooting. Police learned that Jarriet and Jacinto had agreed to meet up so that Jarriet could buy marijuana cartridges from Jacinto. During the sale, Jacinto realized that Jarriet had given him movie prop money instead of real money, shooting him in response.
