MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - The Federal Aviation Administration expects this year’s Thanksgiving travel period to be the busiest in 15 years, with more than 52,000 flights scheduled for Tuesday alone.

Airport officials in Moline say travelers should plan ahead, and plan for crowds.

Ashleigh Johnston with the Quad Cities International Airport said travelers should arrive at least 90 minutes to two hours early for flights departing from Moline.

For those flying out of Chicago, she recommends arriving at least three hours early.

Common travel holdups

Johnston said the most common holdups occur when travelers don’t have their boarding passes ready or encounter issues at security checkpoints.
