Ontario medals for bravery have been awarded to two Sarnia police officers and two Lambton OPP officers.
The awards, created by the province in the 1970s, are given to police officers who have risked their lives to save or protect others. Ontario announced 15 police officer medal winners this week, as well as winners of a provincial medal for firefighter bravery.
“The recipients of the police and firefighter bravery medals each put their own lives at risk when others were in danger,” Lt.-Gov. Edith Dumont said in a news release.
“Their tireless vigilance, and their remarkable selflessness and courage, make them an inspiration to their colleagues and to the community members they help to keep safe,” Dumont said.
