IRMO, S.C. (WIS) — A judge has increased bond for a former Irmo charter school employee accused of sexually abusing at least eight children.
Sulaymaan Benoit, who was the after-school director and a substitute teacher at Green Charter School of the Midlands in Irmo, was given a $125,000 consolidated surety bond in an order issued by Circuit Court Judge Heath Taylor on Monday.
The consolidated bond is for a count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct that led to Benoit’s arrest in October , as well as several previous counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Benoit was initially arrested in February and was released in April after being granted a $75,000 bond.
