Ten months after taking over, Impact Charter School’s new board of directors has persuaded a Baton Rouge judge to allow it to take greater financial control from founder Chakesha Scott, though not as much as it sought. But the legal battle over the Baker-based elementary school is far from over.
It’s also not clear how quickly the management group will be able to gain this control, though, because five members of the previous, ousted board of directors have filed a separate lawsuit. Their lawsuit aims to block Neighbors Federal Credit Union and Automatic Data Processing, or ADP, from allowing the new management to assume control of those accounts. The former holds some school funds, and the latter processes payroll and other human resources-related activities for the school.
