A police officer has appeared in court after a woman was killed on Christmas Eve.

Pc Scott Thompson was charged after Rachael Moore was struck by a Merseyside Police car just after 8pm on December 24, 2022.

The 22-year-old- who was born in Derby and was a university student in Liverpool - was walking home from her job as a carer at the time.

She could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer was responding to an unrelated emergency call at the time of the collision.

Thompson, of Merseyside Police, appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 24.
