In the coming months, residents will start noticing something a bit different on Paradise Valley police officers’ uniforms.
The Paradise Valley Police Department is gradually phasing in a new uniform patch that replaces the one officers have worn since 1983, when the department transitioned from a town marshal’s office.
“It’s been quite a while of having the same patch, and there’s nothing wrong with the patch. It’s a great patch. It definitely has a lot of historical significance being that it was our first PD patch and basically, it’s all we’ve known,” said Cmdr. Patrick Beumler, who has spearheaded the project. “Chief Freeman Carney is very innovative, and he was open to the idea and it’s something that our employees had brought up as something that they were supportive of.”
