A Deltona Middle School teacher was arrested on Monday after he was accused of inappropriately touching a student, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office.

Deputies identified the teacher as Julio Padilla.

The investigation began in September after a student reported that Padilla allegedly rubbed her back shoulder and across her chest while helping her with an assignment.

After the report was made, Padilla was removed from the classroom and reassigned to a position with no student contact, according to VSO.

After further investigation, Padilla was arrested on a charge of child abuse.

Padilla was booked at the Volusia County Branch with a bond of $5,000.
