VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A Rospine man has been sentenced to life in prison for raping a child, according to the Vernon Parish District Attorney’s Office.

On Oct. 25, a jury found Morris Eugene Perkins, 44, guilty of first-degree rape of a person under the age of 13 and possession of child pornography.

Today, Perkins appeared before Judge Tony Bennett for sentencing. Bennett described Perkins as “the worst of the worst” offenders and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of probation, parole, or suspension for the rape count. Perkins was also ordered to serve 30 years for the child porn charge.

The Vernon DA’s Office said both sentences will run consecutively.
