Big White’s opening day has been delayed.
A lack of snow at the resort east of Kelowna means the resort will not open as planned on Thursday.
“Early-season snowfall has not reached the level needed to prepare terrain or operate lifts safely, and the resort will open as soon as conditions allow,” per a release earlier this week.
About 50 cm of more snow is needed to open the resort.
“Based on the current forecast, the resort anticipates making its next meaningful assessment on Monday, Dec. 1 at the earliest unless conditions shift more quickly,” the release states.
However, the annual Welcome to Winter Christmas light-up will go ahead as planned this Saturday.
