While some may be looking to speed up their Thanksgiving Day cooking process by deep frying a turkey this year, it's important to remember how dangerous it can be.
On Tuesday, Sacramento Metro Fire officials held their annual demonstration on how NOT to deep fry your turkey. They provided safety tips and talked about the risk of burn injuries and fires starting from improper deep frying techniques.
Here are some of the most important safety tips:
Always deep fry the turkey outside. Give yourself at least 10 feet of space away from any wooden deck or building.
Always make sure the turkey is completely thawed out. The boiling hot water and frozen meat can cause an explosion.
Keep children and pets away from the process.
Do not overfill your cooker with oil.
Turn the burner off before
