Radio giant iHeartMedia requires DJs to announce “Guaranteed Human” on-air, certifying that content comes from real people rather than AI personalities.

The marketing push capitalizes on consumer concerns about job losses to AI and a desire for authentic human connection amid rapidly changing media.

iHeartMedia operates 850 stations nationally, including LA’s KFI-AM 640, KIIS-FM 102.7 and KRRL-FM, following recent high-profile staff cuts and advertising declines.

As media executives wrestle with the use of artificial intelligence, radio giant iHeartMedia wants to stand out.

“We don’t use AI-generated personalities. We don’t play AI music that features synthetic vocalists pretending to be human,” Tom Poleman, the company’s programming chief, wrote in an email to employees.
