SALT LAKE CITY — The holiday travel rush has officially begun. People are already hitting the road or hopping on a plane for Thanksgiving weekend, and it’s expected to be another record breaker.
The Thanksgiving travel rush is so far, so good at the Salt Lake City International Airport . A lot of Utahns were on their way out of town Tuesday morning.
“I’m headed to Hawaii,” one traveler, Taejah Telles, told KSL.
“Florida,” said travelers Annette and John Davis. “For the warmth!”
They’re just some of the 81.8 million Americans AAA predicts will travel at least 50 miles or more from home between now and Monday — roughly 1.6 million more than last Thanksgiving, and a new travel record.
In Salt Lake City, the biggest crowds are expected on Wednesday.
