Lawyers for an elderly Calgary man charged with manslaughter in the death of a fellow senior are still awaiting Crown disclosure in the case.
Defence lawyer Sam Taylor appeared in Calgary Court of Justice on Tuesday for lead counsel Rebecca Snukal and asked that Chiu Man Yuen’s matter be adjourned into the New Year.
“We’re still awaiting disclosure,” Taylor told Justice Peter Barley.
“We’re asking that the matter return to court Jan. 9.”
Yuen, who is free on bail, was not present for the brief proceeding,
He’s charged with manslaughter in connection with an Oct. 21, altercation at a McDonald’s restaurant parking lot in the city’s northwest involving 76-year-old Kwok-Leung Lau.
