MADISON — The Minnewaska Area girls basketball team hit the ground running on the new season in a big way.
The Lakers shot 46% from the field and 42% from the three-point line en route to a 90-27 win over Lac Qui Parle Valley on Friday, Nov. 21 at Lac Qui Parle Valley High School. The 90 points scored in the contest are the most Minnewaska has put up in a single regular-season game over the past 16 years, dating back to 2010.
The offensive efficiency overshadowed an equally strong defensive effort. Minnewaska held the Eagles to only eight field goals and 8-of-34 shooting for the game, along with forcing 41 total turnovers in the game. Lakers players accumulated 29 steals defensively in the win.
