DES MOINES, Iowa —
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds pardoned two turkeys, “Tailfeather” and “Wing-ding,” Tuesday at Terrace Hill in Des Moines.
The turkeys, both toms this year, came from the farm of Josh and Kelli Berg, first-generation farmers near Early who raise close to a million turkeys each year.
Josh Berg is also president of the Iowa Turkey Federation, which Reynolds highlighted in her proclamation pardoning the turkeys.
“In Iowa, we’re proud to be one of the nation’s top turkey-producing states,” Reynolds said.
She noted the state has over 130 turkey farms in the state. According to the federation , Iowa raises about 12 million turkeys annually.
