The federal government is providing more than $11 million for a housing project that will add 50 affordable, supportive units near London’s Old South neighbourhood.
About 30 people stood in the rain Wednesday afternoon outside what will be known as Coves Landing, at 46 Elmwood Place – the site of the former Elmwood Place Retirement Home.
In the dreary weather , London West MP Arielle Kayabaga, speaking on behalf of Housing and Infrastructure Minister Gregor Robertson, announced “good news” about the federal government’s multimillion-dollar investment in the project.
“Our federal government is announcing over $11 million to help (build) 50 rental units,” Kayabaga told the crowd. “This investment will have an impact on the lives (of people) right here in London.”
