LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With less than two months until the start of the 2026 Kentucky legislative session, Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, has announced his priorities for lawmakers.
Greenberg will request funding that the city hopes to use for continued downtown investments, a first-responder training center and a state funding stream for the Transit Authority of River City.
The plan also calls for more local control to address gun violence, including required background checks for all firearm sales, waiting periods for first-time buyers, and limits on concealed carry for people under 25. It’s unlikely the Republican-led General Assembly will consider the firearm related proposals, as similar measures in the past have not garnered widespread support.
