HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - As the holiday shopping season begins, scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their tactics, with new research showing more people are falling victim to fraud schemes designed to look legitimate.
Kathy Stokes with the AARP Fraud Watch Network said these scams are becoming more common because they’re working for criminals who have perfected their approach.
“This is mostly transnational organizations, super sophisticated with lots of time, lots of money, and lots of resources to make these things look legitimate,” Stokes said.
