Lots of people who expect to travel for Thanksgiving haven’t booked yet. And waiting might actually save them mega bucks.
HotelTonight, the San Francisco-based last-minute booking app, just surveyed 1,500 travelers and found tons of people are procrastinating.
“What we found is that a third of all people are willing to wait until the last minute to get a good deal,” said HotelTonight ’s Ron Sandel. “And they’re right. All the numbers, all the statistics tell us that they’re right.”
Waiting can land you a good travel deal, he said.
Sandel explained that hotels almost always have unsold inventory -- i.e. empty rooms -- that they offer with double-digit discounts to people who wait to book until the day they check in. And that applies even during the holidays.
