Centenary University in Warren County has named a new president to replace Dale Caldwell, who was elected lieutenant governor with Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill in November.
Bishop John R. Schol, a longtime trustee at the private university, will become the 16th president with a two-year term, Centenary University’s Board of Trustees announced on Nov. 25.
“I share Centenary University’s ongoing commitment to student success, academic excellence, and community impact,” said Schol in a release. “This University has a long and proud history of preparing graduates for meaningful and purposeful lives. Together with students and faculty, I look forward to building on current momentum to pursue new opportunities for innovation, experiential learning, and global engagement."
