BOISE, Idaho — A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a 2022 shooting in New Plymouth that left two people dead, Idaho State Police reported.
Authorities on Tuesday announced Joshua M. Kirkham, now known as Waylon D. Kirkham, was arrested by Idaho State Police on murder charges linked to the shooting deaths of Eric Ortega and Megan Amaya.
The shooting occurred on May 14, 2022 at a residence on Ada Road in New Plymouth, as previously reported by KTVB . Idaho State Police said evidence shows Kirkham and the victims knew each other.
Kirkham reportedly discarded a pistol in a canal and ran from Malheur County deputies following the shooting. The gun was recovered and ultimately confirmed as a forensic match to the murder weapon, Tuesday's news release said .
